How to stay fit even when you are stuck at your desk job

Obesity is increasing in not only in India but other countries also and the main reason behind it sitting job of 9 to 6. A study has shown that the people who sit for longer hour continuously has higher death rate. I also do sitting job of 9 to 5 and I suffered from back and shoulder pain, worst even gained the weight. When I realized I already gained 5 kg. So I thought something seriously has to be done to get back to my previous weight. I tried different ways of staying active at my sitting job and again get back to my previous weight.

Always use stairs:
I never use lift. Even in office I always use stairs to stay fit. In lunch break also, after having my lunch I do atleast 15 minutes up down in stairs. This keeps me fit. Walking stairs is one of the high intensity workout.

Don’t sit at your chair for more than 1 hour: I can’t sit for that long in my office chair. I always have excuse of going washroom or filing my water bottle or to have a little chit chat on my friend seat. This way I stay active.

Maintain good posture: I know it is difficult to maintain the good posture throughout the day but try to maintain it atleast for few hours. Sit straight on your chair to prevent shoulder and back pain.

Do some stretching while sitting: Move your hands up and down. Similarly stretch your legs to prevent body ache.

Avoid coffee breaks: I never take coffee from my office coffee machine, it is not healthy. Instead I prefer drinking water. In coffee or tea break also you can walk for 5 to 10 minutes.

Avoid unhealthy food of canteen: I avoid eating canteen or outside food as it contain bad oil and calories. Try to bring your lunch from home to avoid unhealthy food.

Fill your drawer with fruits and nuts: Don’t give yourself an option of eating unhealthy food. Whenever you feel hungry just grab some nuts or fruit.
