How to stay fit even if you have a family

Staying fit seems like a challenge when you are married 
With meetings, work deadlines, kids, it seems almost impossible to take time for your own health.  You are always on your toes, running after your kids and you think you can’t manage time to stay fit. Because you will feel guilty if you don’t spend enough time with you family after work.

Make exercise a fun activity not a chore
You can stay fit and happy even if you have kids. You can also involve your kids in your workout session. If you will consider exercise as a chore or a task that needs to be done then you won’t be able to stick with your exercise routine for long. Think what activities you can do that will enjoy and keeps you fit. Go out and have fun with your kids. Play some games that involve physical workout. Take your kids for hike, bicycling or any other game. Enjoy with your kids while staying active. This will also make your stronger with your kids.


Always have a plan B
I know, sometime it is difficult to take time when you have kids and hubby to take care of. Half of the battle is win, if you start eating healthy. If you will adopt healthy eating habits then only you will be able to make your family healthy.
If you can’t spend 1 hour in gym then think of other ways of staying fit. Like you can do push ups with your kid, ride bicycle, go for running etc.  There should always be a plan B, when things don’t turn out well. If you don’t have time for doing pushups, do something else. Exercise should be like an addiction so that you can’t survive without it.

Stop making excuses
If have time for watching tv, checking Facebook, gossiping then you can surely have time for exercise. So move your lazy ass, off the couch and do something that make your heart pump faster. You are the hero of your family, your kids learn from you. So set a good example for your kids. Stay fit, stay happy.

What to do when you don’t feel like working out?

I workout almost daily and at times I just don’t feel like getting up from my bed and going for a run. It happens with all of us. While it is ok to skip the workout for a day or two but if the feeling of not working out last for longer then it may be a problem for you. Some people stop working out if it is too cold or too hot outside. If you make the habit of not working out due to one or another excuse then it will start affecting your fitness level.  Here are tips that will help you in getting off your couch even when you don’t feel like working out:


Do a light workout: When I feel too lazy to going for a run early morning for 45 minutes then I still get up and run for just 20 minutes. It means do a light workout because something is better than nothing. This way you would not break the habit of working out daily and stay fit.


Get motivated: When I skip my workout I feel bad all the day. So whenever you have this sinking feeling of not working out then remind yourself of how great you feel after a workout.



Call a friend: If you are in no mood for a full blown workout then call your friend a go for a walk. It will also keep you fit.



Remind yourself about your fitness goal: When you are thinking of skipping your workout then remind yourself why you choose to being fit. Even if you are skipping think about the reasons what goal you are trying to achieve by working out so that next day you are more than ready to burn the calories.


Listen to your favourite songs: If are not ready to go to gym then play your favourite tracks and dance on them. It is a great workout.


Try a new workout: Since my favourite workout activity is running but when I don’t feel like doing it then I do skipping. It is obvious to get bored with one same activity daily so try different workout activities.


Read health motivational quotes or success stories: Keep yourself motivated by reading motivational quotes or by watching fitness videos.

Fitness tips for working people

Working people always has excuse that they don’t have time for any kind of workout.  And the people who are on a sitting job tend to get fatter. One of the main reasons of obesity in working people is stress. People take stress due to work pressure and in order to deal with their stress or mood swings they eat more unhealthy food. But even with lack of time and so much work pressure you still can manage to stay fit.
Keep moving: Don’t sit at your workstation continuously for long hours. Get up every 1 hour, walk a little. And during lunch break, walk for atleast 10 minutes after done with your lunch.

Forget the elevator: Instead of using elevator at your office or in metro station, use stairs. You will stay fit if you use stairs.

Eat healthy breakfast: Always eat breakfast that contains healthy food like fruits, cornflakes, milk etc. If you skip breakfast you will feel tired and low on energy.


Walk: If you come home from office cab, get down 10 minutes before from your home and go by walking. This way you will stay fit.


Find a buddy: If you find it hard to workout alone, find a buddy to keeps you motivated.


Stretching: Stretch your arms and legs while sitting at your workstation.


Keep a water bottle with you: Make it a routine to drink at least two bottles of water every day.


Keep healthy snacks with you: It is obvious to feel hungry after every 2 to 3 hours. People mostly eat unhealthy food to fulfill their hunger. They just grab whatever was available in their canteen. Therefore it would be much better if you keep healthy snacks with you like almonds, fruits etc.

How to stay fit naturally?

Staying fit always is no big deal! Really. You just have to be little active. You can stay fit even if you are married or have kids. I have seen married women’s and men’s struggling to lose weight. They spend money on gym and other expensive supplements. Trust me these things won’t work forever. You can easily get back in to a good shape.
  1. Use stairs: Have you ever notice that in metro platform there is a sign saying ‘Stay Fit’ on the side of stairs. So use stairs instead of elevator unless you have a joint problem. I always use stairs weather in metro or in office. It helps you in staying fit. 
  2. Daily Chores: You can lose weight even while doing your daily household chores. By sweeping your floor you can burn upto 150 calories. These daily chores like dusting, cleaning keeps you fit.
  3. Take time to walk: If you are busy enough for any workout then do a simple thing. When you come home from your office, get down a stop before and walk till home. You should walk atleast 1000 steps a day.
  4. Play: If you are married and have kids then great. Take some time to play with your kids. You will enjoying playing with your kids and also reduce some calories.
  5. Early to bed, early to rise: Don’t stay up till late night. 8 hour sleep is essential for staying fit.
  6. Eat healthy food: It is ok to eat your favourite pizza sometime but don’t make it a routine. Junk food not only makes you fat but also very unhealthy. There is a saying ‘What you eat is what you are’. So watch what you eat.
By making some little changes in your daily routine you can easily stay fit. Good Luck!
